CD Review:
After The Crue put out five albums over ten years, they decided to do a compilation of those releases. The compiler took two songs from each of the 5 albums and did a good job in his choices. The problem is that this band does not sound very good live. So "Kickstart My Heart" doesn't have the pump it did on the original album. They also remixed some songs. Why couldn't they leave it alone and just re-issue the songs in their form on the original albums. Anyway, when they put this out from cassette to CD they added more crap. Overall, this is better than some of their albums since it took the best songs, but it is still Motley Crue and that doesn't say too much.

CD Review:
Ottawa native Carleton Bovell hooked up with producer Joao Carvalho (Gord Downie, Hawksley Workman, Hayden) to release Her, Bovell's first full-length CD. Bovell has been performing around the capital and across central Canada for a few years now appearing at festivals and venues both big and small.
Listening to the CD you are struck by how young Bovell sounds. If you weren't privy to the photos of Bovell that grace the cover and inside jacket of Her, which show a mature man in his early 30s, you would swear you were listening to a teen. Bovell restricts his songwriting to all the boring cliches about love lost and gained which makes Her an acquired taste. If Bovell had a marketing department, Her would be targeted toward young women and unfortunately this reviewer is not one of them.
If you enjoy an adolescent-voiced love songs accompanied by an acoustic guitar then Her is your cup of tea. Otherwise you may want to try something else.
