CD Review:
So you are that type of man; you know the one with the hairy chest. You don't carry a club or M-16 but you walk as if you do. No one mistakes the space you occupy as anyone's but your own. But somehow you feel misunderstood because you do indeed have another side; that part of you which enjoy flowers and poetry. In fact, sometimes you wish there was a woman in your life who could appreciate this softer side. You wish there was a woman out there who could put you in your place; someone who would take the lead in the relationship; a girl who doesn't mind grabbing the reins, at least every once in a while.
Well sit back and relax He-man. Cougar Party is what you need. Pop Heatbreakers/Homewreckers into the CD player and let Amanda (guitar, vocals), Shannon M. (bass, vocals) and Shannon G. (drums, vocals) take the pressure of being such a force in the world off your shoulders. For the next 23 minutes you need not worry about a thing as they aggressively pound you into submission.
Cougar Party are a punk/hardcore band out of Toronto and Heatbreakers/Homewreckers is their debut release. Fronting a DIY attitude and a penchant for telling you what they think of inconsiderate people and ignorant men. The band formed back in 2003 as a foursome but they lost a member in 2004.
The album has 10 song of which, "Going Down with Cougar Party," (a song about a member of the band taking a guy home and giving him the ultimatum "Go Down or Get Out" when finding out he doesn't perform cunnilingus) "1,2,3 Go! Circlepit!" (a song that gives men a wake-up call at hardcore concerts) and "Are You my Snugglebunny" (a song celebrating cuddling) are highlights.
