CD Review:
The last great album by the duo, Be Yourself Tonight bounced the band back from the mediocre release 1984 (For the Love of Big Brother). Considered their most commercially successful release, the band had help from the likes of Aretha Franklin (on "Sisters Are Doin' For Themselves"), Stevie Wonder (with harmonica on "There Must Be An Angel") and Elvis Costello (on "Adrian").
The album had two other hits other than the ones mentioned above. "Would I Lie to You" and "It's Alright..." which, again, showed off Lennox's voice.
Many consider this album their best, and the album is the most expansive, with soul, R&B and straight ahead rock mixed in with the signature electronics, but personally, Touch was their most creative. They did it on their own, no holds barred, and Lennox's voice was her most accomplished.
This was the band's last hurray as their star begins dimming after this. This album along with Touch are essential '80s pop as most of the other electronic synth-pop music of the decade was a lost cause.
