CD Review:
Has Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath been reincarnated? With some added formaldehyde in the form of the White Stripes? Australian 3-piece, Wolfmother has made longing for a return to the heyday of the good shit from the 70s pointless. It has arrived. This reviewer is all for it.
When the Tea Party appeared on the now defunct 90s late night variety show Friday Night! with Ralph Benmergui, Jeff martin and his band mates were tagged as the new Doors, Wolfmother seems to have gained a similar reputation (Led Zeppelin with Ozzie at lead vocals).
The album itself is one hell of a ride through stellar guitar riffs, interesting time signature changes, mystic lyrics, and amazing vocals. The album falls as it progresses but what album lately that has entered the mainstream can you say has such bombastic feel other than a White Stripes album? "Woman," "Apple Tree," "Joker & the Thief" and "Dimension" can all be enjoyed, if not for nothing else, their nostalgic feel. Ahh, the new millenium is turning out to be good!
