CD Review:
Stephen McBean has for the second time left his Black Mountain bandmates (for the most part) and returned into his studio to record a solo album under the Pink Mountaintops moniker. McBean drops the sexuality that marked his work in the past on Axis of Evol and applies his headspace to the more spiritual side of his personality.
Axis of Evol mixes gospel styles, electronic drums, acoustic guitar and electric synths to songs about God and the Devil that remind one of the Velvet Underground and the Jesus and Mary Chain. If you like fuzz and drudge, and near Beck-like vocals applied to mostly a slow tempo, low-fi song list, Axis of Evol is the album for you.

CD Review:
If you get home after a hard day at the "office" after your supervisor reamed you out, go get your favourite alcoholic beverage and put this CD on. Air, a duo from France (Nicolas Godin and Jean Benoit Dunckel to be precise) will relax you to the point of floating on air-hence their name. The duo use keyboards and other paraphernalia to advance you to cerebral oblivion. On Moon Safari they add the vocals of Beth Hirsch (singing in both French and English) on a few of the tracks. This album is best listened to with the eyes shut. The only drawback is that if you do not like keyboard driven electronic music, this album will not impress you. But if you do like what I have described, then tip your drink to your lips, close your eyes and prepare to be floating lethargically toward the moon for an ethereal safari.
