Pursuit of Happyness (2006) --> Will Smith stars in this Gabriele Muccino film that tells the story of Chris Gardner, a down and out salesman who, through hard word and perseverance, becomes a successful stock broker. I assume the movie is meant to promote the myth of the American dream, but what you leave the theatre with is a sense that if this is an accurate picture of the average man in American society it is no wonder so many are driven over the edge. I'm happy I live in Canada where people seem to care more about each other.

Idiocracy (2006) --> Private Joe Bauers (Luke Wilson) is selected, along with a reluctant hooker, to participate in a hibernation project. They are placed in a pod and forgotten for 500 hundred years. When they are accidentally revived, they enter a society that has through generations and generations of stupid people out breeding smart ones become moronic. Bauers turns out to be the smartest man on the planet and the laughs begin. The only problem is there aren't many laughs to this movie.

Rocky Balboa (2006) --> The best Rocky movie since the first, Rocky Balboa finds Stallone running a restaurant and mourning the passing of his wife from cancer. When a sports network creates a video game that matches Rocky with the current heavy weight champion, a spark ignites and the two boxers end up in the ring fighting an exhibition match. The film is sad in a nostalgic sort of way and it ends the Rocky franchise perfectly. Stallone should be congratulated for not leaving the series in the dismal state it was in back in 1990.

Open Season (2006) --> Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher voice the two main animated characters in this mediocre film about a domesticated grizzly bear placed back in the wild. With the help of a one-horned buck, Boog (the bear in question) learns that his proper place is in the woods not living in the garage of a human owner, no matter how much he is loved.
