Click (2006)
Click (2006) --> Click stars Adam Sandler as Michael Newman, an overworked and stressed architect who is given a remote control (by Christopher Walken) which allows him to fast forward through the boring and difficult parts of his life. When the RC starts working on its own, Sandler zooms through his life and comes to realize at his death he missed out on what makes it all worth while. Although the movie has some funny parts, it is too sentimental to gain any serious attention from frequent movie-goers.

Hard Candy (2005)
Hard Candy (2005) --> A gripping and creepy film about a pedophile and a teenage girl who traps and eventually kills him, Hard Candy is a tough watch. Starring Ellen Page as the teen (named Hayley Stark) and Patrick Wilson as the child molester (called Jeff Kohlver), Hard Candy takes place in Wilson's house when Stark ventures there after an internet chat room conversation. The film, directed by David Slade (Do Geese See God (2004)) is a must see for those film buffs who enjoy dialogue over action.

Thank You for Smoking (2005)
Thank You for Smoking (2005) --> Aaron Eckhart stars as tobacco lobbyist Nick Naylor who earns a substantial living defending big tobacco companies from restrictive legislation and costly law suits. He has few redeeming qualities and the film shows the viewer how corporations use these skilled lobbyists to push their agenda. What is learned is that under the guide of a master debater any position, no matter how heinous, can be defended. With smoking, and many other habits, it is freedom of choice that is used. The film doesn't lack humour (which makes Eckhart's job even more reprehensible) and the scenes when Eckhart has lunch with his friends in the alcohol and firearms lobby are satirical gems. When Eckhart shows up at school to participate in his son's "What Does Your Parents Do for a Living" theme day, you have a hard time not laughing incessantly to Jason Reitman's gem of a movie.

Tonari no Totoro [My Neighbour Totoro] (1988)
Tonari no Totoro [My Neighbour Totoro] (1988) --> Considered by many as the greatest children's movie ever made, this Japanese anime film is great to watch by the whole family. Mixing in elements of myth and imagination, Hayao Miyazaki brings forth a charm that will mostly be lost o adults but watching the eyes of your child will conjure up those childish days of fantasy where almost anything could be real. This child-like imagination is captured beautifully by Miyazaki and when watching My Neighbour Totoro, if you are in a receptive state of mind, you may capture it too.
