Ong-bak (2003) --> Prachya Pinkaew has become synonymous with Thai martial arts films. With Tony Jaa as the in catalyst for Pinkaew's direction, his movies are all out action blockbusters. Jaa made his name for stunt doubling in Mortal Kombat Annihilation and after Pinkaew saw a demo reel he made this movie for Jaa. The collaboration continues with Tom yum goong (2005) and the soon to be released Sword (2006). This movie has a simple plot (a villager travels to the city to retrieve a stolen religious icon) and that is its only drawback. The action, using no CGI, strings, or other tricks, is spectacular. The movie continues the trend made famous by Jackie Chan by adding humour to the action.

Bewitched (2005) --> From the writer of When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and the director of Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You've Got Mail (1998) comes a romantic comedy of magical proportions. Nora Ephron is one of the best in this genre of film although Bewitched doesn't live up to the movies mentioned earlier. Both Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell perform up to standard, and fans of theirs should see the movie, but the story is sub par and the ending is anticlimactic. Save this one for a DVD rental with your significant other.
