Billy Connolly Live in New York (2005) --> One of the funniest comedians coming out of Scotland, Connolly made a stop in New York on his Too Old to Die Young tour and recorded it for DVD lovers everywhere. His comedic style is schizophrenic with a purpose, telling seemingly random stories which he brings together at the end.

Flightplan (2005) --> Flightplan stars Jodie Foster as a bereaved widow flying from Germany to New York with her daughter and departed husband (sealed in a coffin). When she falls asleep on the plane (one she helped design as an engineer) she wakes to find her daughter missing. When no one remembers the daughter on board and the passenger manifest shows only her as a passenger, the captain and crew question her sanity. The film goes on to reveal a plot to extort $50 million from the airline of which Foster is a pawn. But Foster is not willing to stop until she gets her daughter back. The film is beautifully claustrophobic and Foster's acting at its usual best, but the story is not gripping enough to move the film above the average.

Waiting... (2005) --> This film fell under my radar or it would have made my year end list of comedies for 2005. If you have ever worked in a restaurant you will enjoy this film immensely. What Clerks (1994) did for convenience store workers and Office Space (1999) did for office workers, Waiting... does for restaurant workers Starring Ryan Reynolds as the immature but lovable Monty and Justin Long as the efficient yet conflicted Dean, Waiting... gives you an inside look on what is involved in getting meals to your table. After watching this film you will never insult or under tip a waiter/waitress again!

The Fortune Cookie (1966) --> Starring Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in their first collaboration, and directed by Billy Wilder (one of America's greatest foreign born directors/writers), The Fortune Cookie is a cynical comedy where Matthau plays ambulance chaser Willie Gingrich who convinces his brother-in-law (Lemmon as CBS cameraman Harry Hinkle) to pretend to be seriously injured after Hinkle is hit by a football player during the broadcast of a game. Matthau won an Oscar for his role, but it was with The Odd Couple (1968) that Matthau, starring with Lemmon, played his greatest role.
