Owners John and Sylvia Taylor re-invented domus with a vision of creating a cuisine that is influenced by Canada's diverse heritage using the freshest available regional, seasonal, and organic products.

After assuming stewardship of domus in 1995, the Taylors have continually impressed patrons with their truly Canadian food inventions, exquisite wine selections showcasing Canadian vintages, and unique food preparation stylings.

Domus Restaurant Philosophy

Domus is a Latin word that means 'home'. Home is where we relax and welcome friends and family, as well as cook from our roots. In Canada the diversity of our heritage brings a variety of different products, styles and flavors to choose from. This is young country and our culinary landscape is just starting to take shape - yet we have some of the most dedicated artisans in the world, from our small independent farmers to our great Canadian winemakers. Our mission is to find those unique Canadian grown or artisan produced products and create a cuisine to be proud of.

Domus supports many local farmers and producers that run certified organic and environmentally sustainable operations and programs. We take care in trying to find out where our product comes from, how it is produced and by whom.

Our dedication to building a Canadian wine cellar is coming together with the direct cooperation of Niagara wineries. We purchase directly from the winery as much as possible which keeps the profits in the hands of producers and offers us a source to unique and little-known wines. Many wineries have generously released library vintages for a glimpse at the age worthiness of Canadian wine-making over the years. We would be happy to direct you to them.

Here are a few things to look forward to in the coming season: We have wonderful new products from Pickle Patch Farm, Tamworth Pork, Suffolk Lamb & Katadin Lamb which will be featured on the menu. We have elk from The Elk Ranch and great vegetables such as Sweet Mama and butternut squash that are fantastic for soups or on their own. We have Crazy Dave's Spicy Asian greens that we will be using for lunch and dinner.
