Shocking Movie Scenes
It would be logical to assume, with the amount of movies people watch today, that film makers would run out of ways to shock and thrill us. I mean there are only so many ways to shoot a scene and the variety of ways to maim and kill actors must be limited. With all the remakes of older movies and the plethora of TV shows adapted to film, you can see how the industry in Hollywood is drying up from lack of new and inventive ideas. But for some unknown reason, this phenomenon hasn't crossed over into the individual scenes that make up these movies. It hasn't stopped directors from creating crazy new ways to shock our senses. So here is a salute to the thrill scene and the ten choices that made the greatest impact on us.

10. Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Obi-Wan vs. Anakin fight Scene - Obi-Wan slices Anakin's arm and legs off with one swing of his light saber; then Anakin slowly catches on fire and half of his body slides into lava.

9. True Romance (1993)
Hotel Room Scene - Patricia Arquette as Alabama gets the one of the worse beatings in film (on a female) by (James Gandolfini, from the TV Series The Sopranos) in the hotel room. She survives by distracting and provoking the drug collector and manages to overpower and kill him with his own gun.

8. American Psycho (2000)
Hooker Home Porn Scene - Christian Bale plays a psycho killer who is wealthy and runs a great business. His character has an addiction with hookers, making porn videos with them. Afterward, he triffles with the whores in a really fucked up and mysterious way; the scenes make you wonder what actually happened to the prostitutes.

7. Fight Club (1999)
Angel Fight Scene - Edward Norton loses control and starts beating Angel's face in. The Director's cut is a must see since it is much gorier as it focuses on the face rather than the crowd.

6. American History X (1998)
Sidewalk Scene - Derek holds a gun to an African American's head telling him to open his mouth and put it on the the sidewalk curb. Derek then kicks him behind the head. This scene is cut at the right moment and then focuses on the brother's reaction.

5. Se7en (1995)
The Swat Team Scene - Swat Team breaks into the suspected killer's apartment. They discover a heroin addicted victim lying in a bed who has been suffering from starvation and numerous drug injections. Unexpectedly, he wakes up and starts suffocating.

4. RoboCop (1987)
Shotgun To The Head Scene - Officer Alex J. Murphy (who becomes Robocop) chases a gang of thugs and cop killers into their hideout warehouse. Sneaking up on them with Officer Anne Lewis, he is discovered. Alex is captured and the gang's leader toys with him beginning with a shotgun blast tearing his hand off. The gang proceeds to execute Murphy but after over 20 shots he is still alive. Finally, the leader finishes him off with a very graphic gun shot to the head.

3. Scarface (1983)
Chainsaw Scene - Tony (Al Pacino) is sent on his second of numerous drug deals which lead him to his wealth and power. What he doesn't know is he is being setup. Tony watches his partner/friend gets sawed up by a coke dealer in the bathroom of a hotal over a sum of drug money which is left in the car for security.

2. 28 Days Later... (2002)
Machete Scene - Selena kills her friend with seven machete swings after he is bitten by a zombie at Jim's parents' house. Her instant reaction to kill him is what makes the scene so terrific.

1. Casino (1995)
Cornfield Beating Scene - Nicky's beating in the cornfield by his own gang members is by far a classic. He watches the trouncing of his brother first which makes the scene much more powerful.
