No Brood-ing over the Weather at Westfest 2006
With acts like Elliott Brood, Jim Bryson, Justin Rutledge, The Skydiggers and Emm Gryner on stage in Westboro Village for the 2006 version of
Westfest there was little complaint about the musical entertainment. Local meteorologists called for showers all weekend but the precipitation was intermittent which was a pleasant surprise for the hundreds of visitors.
Other than the music, highlights of the festival include Ann-Marie MacDonald, a Governor General's Award winning playwright, author, and Gemini Award winning actor who both entertained and taught in her Saturday appearance on the literary stage.
Both Douvris Martrial Arts & Fitness Center and Spring Action Trampoline had demonstrations that were entertaining. Douvris students showed off their training and skill with and without weapons. Mostly children under the age of 12, they pulled it off without a hitch even with hundreds of people watching. Spring Action had three amazing acrobats. They synchronized difficult routines including a simultaneous in air 360 while hugging each other. The crowd enjoyed the display.
Fun for the whole family, Westfest had another successful weekend entertaining Ottawa residents and lovers of the arts in Westboro Village.
