Best Of 2007
Another year has passed and we at Exposure Online Magazine have seen some interesting news events, movies both independent and from Hollywood, music both local and worldwide and even stuck our noses into the world of video games. We have also perused the airwaves of that old school invention called radio and with all this information gathering (having great fun doing it) has brought the best to you through this end of the year article. So without further ado, here is what we thought of the year that was 2007.

Newsmaker of the Year
The Suicide Bomber
It seems this destructive behaviour will be with us for a long time to come. There is no limit to the number of Islamic extremists willing to blow themselves up in the name of a cause. Until we find a way to stop this style of warfare, which seems to boggle even the best of military minds, countless people, innocent or otherwise, will have their body parts strewn all over the streets of the world.
The list of deaths is too numerous to count but the most notable in 2007 was former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on December 27th.
The suicide bomber beat out the Canadian dollar's rise to parity with the greenback, the Mulruney-Schriver affair, The RCMP, the recalls of children's toys, the Virginia Tech Shooting, stem cell research advancement, Barry Bonds breaking the career home run record, Global Warming, and the deaths of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan. |

Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Blade Runner: The Final Cut
The best version of one of the greatest films ever made, The Final Cut improves Ridley Scott's 1992's Director's Cut (the theatrical version was released in 1982) by expanding scenes, adding new footage, enhancing the film print, and remastering Vangelis' soundtrack into 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. If you loved the previous versions of the movie, you will be blown away by this one.
Hon. Mentions: The Host, 300, Resident Evil: Extinction. |

Best Action/Adventure
Live Free or Die Hard
John McClane returns to the big screen to battle a maniac hell-bent on destroying the United States through the systematic execution of a 'Fire Sale' (an attack on the country's infrastructure through computer hacking). The pace is fast, the action is exciting, and the storyline has the slight of hand typical for the franchise. Better than all the previous Diehard movies except the original, Live Free or Diehard is a great ride from start to finish.
Hon. Mentions: The Bourne Ultimatum, 3:10 to Yuma. |

 |
Best Horror/Thriller
Grindhouse
The Tarantino/Rodrigues ode to the Grindhouse movies of the 70s, Grindhouse is two movies in one. Lasting over three hours, it was fun seeing Kurt Russell, as a crazed stuntman, mowing down hot chicks in an indestructible car or Rose McGowan blast away at zombies with her machine gun leg.
Hon. Mentions: Eastern Promises, Rob Zombie's Halloween, , Flight of the Living Dead, 28 Weeks Later, Captivity, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Dead Silence, Diary of the Dead, Fido, Black Sheep, The Signal, 30 Days of Night. |

Best Mystery
Zodiac
David Fincher does another stand up job using the Robert Graysmith books as a guide in telling the story of a serial killer nicknamed by the press as Zodiac. The murderer has never been found and therefore his crimes back in the 60s and 70s have gone unpunished. Downey Jr. continues his quirky style of acting best known in movies such as Natural Born Killers and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. |
