BC Fashion Week Spring 08Christina DarlingI'm not sure why BC Fashion Week even bothered with these 5:30 start times, every show was super late. Thankfully I got myself addicted to these blueberry martini things they serve in the lounge and didn't mind that the Christina Darling show was delayed by over an hour.Christina Darling designer Christina Culver called this collection World Traveler and she meant it quite literally. The crowd loved the fitted bodice/full skirt dress (below) that came out in a bright world map print and a pair of super tight leopard print legging pants with gathered hems that came in gold and silver (below). I loved how unique this show was. It definitely didn't fit the typical Vancouver mold and I thought it was really daring. There was a bikini with huge ties (below) that I loved followed by a few club dresses that were just not for me. I loved the bustier tops that looked like they were developed so a girl would have enough support and could forgo her bra. There was a top with buttons in the shape of a heart and a long dress with a silver bust piece paired with an animal wild print skirt that drew a round of applause. To close a silver dress with a long train came out, got to say though, I have no idea where a person would wear that thing! 
Christina is Vancouver's very own Henry Holland! Most of the stuff from her spring collection would freak me out to wear, but I was drawn to it because of the unconventional fabrics. It was all so flashy. While a more conventional Vancouver designer might have 200 people who all owned one or two pieces from their line, Christina would only have 25 people but they would all own a lot of Christina Darling. Even though the show looked like crazy club wear to me, it kept my attention, it was totally exciting and I had a lot of fun!
