Naomi Klein

Naomi Klein was a relatively unknown journalist living in Toronto until her book No Logo hit the books shelves of North America in 2000. That book which took Klein four years to research and write has become the'bible' of the anti-globalisation movement.

Born in Montreal and raised in Toronto, Klein comes from a family of activists so it is no wonder she has become one herself. Rejecting the consumerism of her youth, Klein has become one of anti-globalisation's greatest leaders. She tours the world speaking to students, activists and social and political leaders.

Klein's main outlet for her thoughts though are her written articles for publications such as The Nation, The New Statesman, Newsweek International, the New York Times, the Village Voice, Ms. Magazine and The Guardian.

She has won two awards for No Logo: the Canadian National Business Book Award (2001) and the French Prix Mediations (2001). She has also written a book of articles updating everyone on her ideas and adventures in the anti-globalisation movement (Fences and Windows)

It is easy to understand the reasons why globalization is a growing trend in the economies of nations and the benefits of it. The larger the scale of the business and the larger the market available will ultimately bring lower prices for the consumer through economies of scale and other factors. But is this actually true?
